The Shot I Fell Off The Bridge For
It had snowed. Alot. Like about 5 feet in 3 days. When that happens, it changes where the edges of things appear to be.

I saw this scene taking shape and snowshoed out to greet it. Set up my tripod on the little bridge over the creek that feeds the lake. With the sunset about to peak, I looked up, took a step back... and fell off the bridge right onto my back in the creek. Someone let out schoolgirl shriek. Certainly that was not me. And yet... I was alone. sigh. Lying there in the slush, I looked up again - and saw my camera and tripod dangling by a mere participle above me. Luckily, it wasn't heavy enough the break through and join my little creek party jam. I had to scramble out on my hands and knees, because my snowshoes wouldn't grab in the voluminous, drifty snow. This gorgeous painting of a moment graciously hovered until I got my shot.

And in the end, that's all that really counts.

Vermillion Times a Billionleaving Yosemite Valley

My husband Joe has a gift for spotting shots, I've discovered. As we were leaving Yosemite Valley one weekend, he saw this sunset developing before I did... and knew it was going to be spectacular. So we pulled over and waited... but not for long! The light show hit with an explosion of color I've seldom ever seen. We couldn't stop gasping, Oooh-ing and Aaahh-ing, to the point of distraction! I finally had to make us both zip it so I could concentrate. heh. And although I made bracketed shots of each frame... for the most part I tossed the other two. This one is a single image. I'm known to process, but I didn't touch this! No kidding... this is right out of the camera.

You're looking at Cathedral Peak - and I used my 17-40mm, so you have an idea of the scale.

Honestly, this moment was like being kissed by heaven itself.

Wisps of Memory Yosemite, CA

Turned out that part of herself she thought was lost... wasn't.
The glow of knowledge long-forgotten... remembered.
Wisps of memories and dreams... glowed now with new life. Their fire rekindled.
A new light dawned

The Light Show Next Door
She ran down the hallway as fast as she could, skidding around the corner in her stocking feet, sliding to a stop where her mother stood, all breathless excitement.
"MOM!!" They're having a light show next door!! Can we go watch it??"
Her mother smiled. She loved it when the neighbors did this.
"Let's go!" she whispered conspiratorially, as if they were about to do something wickedly fun. Truth was, she wouldn't have missed it for all the world.
The girl and her mother grabbed their coats, their hats and a mug of the cider that had been steaming on the stove all afternoon and nestled into a chair on the porch. The perfect viewing station.

"Let the light show begin!" They cried.
And it did.
Oh, how it did.

Where the Gingerbread People Live
Everyday on her way to school, she walked by where the gingerbread people lived.
And everyday she wondered what it would to be like to be warm, golden and freshly baked from the oven, loved by all.
