The Tea HouseFannette Island, Lake Tahoe, CA

On Tea Party days, everyone was all a'flutter.
The birds chirped more prettily, the wind rustled just so...
Even the sun seemed to toss a little extra aim 'n glow into the mix.

Sky On Fire
When a scene like this is presents itself to you, it's kind of like the spotlight switching on and the director barking "Action!!". You're on. You're in the zone. Maybe a little nervous about hitting your mark, saying your lines right. Which is kinda silly, since a scene like this has nothing to do with you. All you can really do is be in awe. And do your best to be in service of such a moment so that maybe someone who wasn't even there can understand why you were left completely speechless.
The sky was indeed on fire that night.

Never Say NeverSierra Nevada Mountains, CA

Because you just never know when the Reality You Only Imagined will bust out of the Rock of Previously Impossible.
Personally, I like to keep my options open.
The Emerald Bridge
She had been gone a timefold. The journey home took longer this time than she ever remembered. It was harder than she expected. More heartbreaking, humbling, painful, healing, exhilarating, exhausting, rewarding, life-threatening, life-affirming and more utterly incredible than she ever dreamed possible.

And now... the Emerald Bridge. The last crossing. She could glimpse the peaceful, healing waters beckoning beyond the edge of the forest. Home.
In many ways, her deepest and truest work was about to begin. Home.
She took a moment to let the impact of her arrival settle. The eternity it took to get here slide from her shoulders like a battle-worn pack of lead. The relief of returning soothe every bit of her being.
Took a deep breath.
And stepped onto the bridge.
Home.

Red House On The Roaring River
Winter 2010-11 kicked our butts. I know we weren’t alone, but up here in the Sierra Nevadas, we had match-point record snowfall. At 50-60 feet depending on where you were standing, it didn’t actually break all the records… but it was jawdropping all the same. And interminable. I mean, people tunneled down into their homes, okaayyy? I mention this because when you have record snowfall, it means record snowmelt too. This was the Yuba River near Big Bend on July 4th. Water level higher even than it was 2 weeks before… and so dangerous even the gnarliest kayakers were benched. This house had the best view… although I think if you lived there, you’d have gone deaf from the constant roar. Man, nature amazes me.
