SkyBirdLos Angeles, CA

The little bird stood on the railing, thinking. His name was Skybird on account he lived at Skybar in Los Angeles California.

"That french fry on that lady's plate looks awfully good," he thought.
"Cor blimey. I bet I could drop in, nick the one top and be up in the rafters before that cow could blink an eye."

The other birds lined up on the rafters to see what Skybird would do. He had quite a reputation, y'see. Not only was he blessed with gorgeous plumage… but his french fry nick rate was the envy of all the birds. He was fearless he was. So as ya see here, his concentration was unbelievable.
And In the very next moment, he dropped from railing, nicked that french fry and was up in the rafters before that cow could blink an eye.

They don't call 'im SkyBird for nuthin.

Purple on PurposeMaui, HI

Everyone photographs lilies. That's because they're irresistible. This one greeted us on Maui in 2004. She is long gone by now. But she had something to say about individualism, clarity, purpose and holding your water.
I loved her attention to detail.

A Very Berry Fairy TaleTruckee, CA

In a very merry land not so far from here, lived a nice couple named Larry and Mary. They had 10 beautiful children; Jerry, Sherry, Barry, Peri & Keri (twins), Gary, Harry, Carrie, Terry and Frank.

Now, Larry and Mary owned a dairy. (of course).
When the household needed milk they had but to cry;
"Jerry, Barry and Harry... please run to the dairy! Just fetch now... and do not tarry!"
The boys would bound out the door, milk pails in hand - with rarely a query or fuss.

Now one day a fairy named Cherry did meet them, midway between house and the barn. She whispered;
"Be wary, young Jerry and Barry and Harry... watch your step and ferry with care.
They knew not to heed her, and never believed her... for Cherry was mischief dot com.

They filled up their buckets with nary a ruckus and set out to carry them home.
But Cherry the fairy had other ideas... she made Jerry trip and fall down.
Larry and Barry did parry the fairy and ran on without spilling a drop.

Sherry and Terry ran outside to greet them and laughed when they heard about Cherry. Larry and Mary both knew of the fairy; she came with the dairy they'd bought.

So they sat down to dinner... and it was a winner.
Topped off as it was with a pie made of berries
And milk from the dairy that made it past Cherry... that was poured for the family by Frank.

The Long Way UpAuburn, CA

I'm working to eliminate an utter and complete squeamishness with bugs. Doing the de-sensitization approach. Again.

I tried this many years ago with spiders by watching the movie "Arachnaphobia." That was not a good plan.
At all.

So now as you can see, I'm breaking myself in more gently by going for the softer, more artistic approach. You may also note that I've chosen a critter with no discernable pincers, stingers, ooze or obvious malice... one that was willing to sit still for a good long while and may well have been asleep. This is my kind of critter bug. I'm very pleased that my hands didn't shake or sweat as I looked at this on my monitor just now.

Baby steps...
