That LookI got "that look" from a Pelican today.
I'm not quite sure how to feel about that look.
I mean, sure I was aiming at him/her through the baleful eye of my Howitzer (70-200 f/2.8 plus x2 extender) while he/she and his/her mate were attempting to dine peacefully upon local fishy fare... but you'd a thought I was the paparazzi stalking or something.

Pause.

OK, I guess I was.
sigh.
Well I guess I know EXACTLY how they feel about it now.
That's some look.
Did Someone Say "Sheep Shaving?"

Rare is the model who can sustain such an unabaaaaashed, unblinking, come-hither gaze whilst chewing with her mouth open.
And yet… clearly I found one.
May I present: the new cover of "Sheep Vogue".
Because I can.

Flight of the Heron
I don't pretend to be a wildlife photographer.
But the Glenshire Pond gives one the opportunity to get lucky. And I did when with Mr. Great Blue Heron here!

These guys hang out in the summer. They're like some big prehistoric creature and make a funny noise that doesn't fit what they look like at all. I'm always running around trying to get a National Geographic shot of them. It's trickier than it looks! I'll keep working on it.

The Eagle and The Moon
I was upstairs recording and editing voiceovers, which is what I do for a living.
It was windy out. Summer. Lots of birds and activity out.

Suddenly the smaller birds darted about and fluttered even more energetically, like they were caffeinated. The geese looked nervous. The egrets decided to leave. I wondered what was up. Then the bald eagle glided by.

I grabbed my camera and galloped down the stairs, launching myself out onto the back deck. I raised my camera and sharted shooting like a madwoman. Light was wrong, lens was wrong... no time to do anything but shoot 'n pray.

Didn't even see the moon later.
Cool.

Stately Mr. Heron
Truthfully, I don't know if this is a Mr. or a Mrs..
Or even a Ms.
But this is a Great Blue Heron that lives up to its name. Sadly, I think he wasn't feeling well. He flew away after I took this shot and we never saw him (or her) again.

This is my homage to your beauty, Mr. or Mrs. Great Blue.
