Humphrey Bogart Was Here
He was going out. He didn't know when he would be back. Or even if he would. It was secret. Top secret.
The call came in on the untraceable phone. The message was in code.
Translation; grab the bag by the door and leave now.

He learned long ago to act first, question later. Which he did now.
But this time as he left, he looked back. Took a mental snapshot of door, the steps, the way the single lamp post draped light across the railing like a wing of an angel.
Like the woman he'd left in the bed.
She'd awaken without him. And wonder why.

Wait. Weather. Desire. Live.Truckee, CA

It has been said...
Wait in the stillness in between breaths. Deepen your roots.
Weather what what storms you must. Let them hone you.
Awaken to the spark of the divine; the one true desire...
Which is to live; with the full and glorious force of creation.
It Takes More Than GritSan Gimignano, Italy

True grit.
Who thought that one up?
Isn't that the stuff that gets into your shoe - the gunk they make all kinds of suds for so you can wash it off - the misplaced bit that lands in your salad at a high end restaurant and chips your tooth?
Why would having true of that be a good thing?
Perhaps some deep strength, a gallon (or more) of faith, a boatload of wisdom and discernment... and hey, focus is good - so's determination. Good words abound concerning the ability to withstand stuff.
Grit, not so much.
She always thought one's choice of words was interesting... and rather more important than most people realized.
Let Me Out, Lucca!Lucca, Italy

That title is exactly what I heard in my head when I pointed my NEX-7 at this textural wonder. I was surprised to learn that Lucca was way more ancient than I expected. It founded by the Etruscans, then later it became a Roman colony. By "later"... I mean in 180 BC!

Perhaps it was the clouds overhead and raining on-an-off weather along with the August humidity... but I felt a heaviness everywhere. Don't get me wrong... this is a beautiful city and the people were marvelous. It was just a vibe in the air that day. And this image personifies it for me.
El Capitan, SIR!

Something about his very presence made everyone want to salute.
Me too.

Time Passes, Cycles RepeatThe unfolding cycles of life and the immutability of it all
sometimes occupied her imagination for hours at a time.
At other times, it all coalesced into a single thought form.
Like a snapshot of eternity.
But with better captions.
Go To The Liiiiight! Death Valley, CA
I coulda sworn I heard a heavenly choir,
So I slammed on my brakes and careened to a stop and listened.
Turned out it was just a slight (albeit rather melodic) wind leak in the car.
I think.
That Light In Your Eyes Arches National Monument, Utah
I would know you anywhere.
It's not what you wear, or do or say...
It's the light in your eyes that I cannot forget.
Through all times and in every way... I would know you.
Always.
River of a Dream
A bit of imagination often spins a tale when I get in my photo "zone". It sure took over as I stood in this spot. When I let my eyes soften and gaze down, it was like some kind of giant primordial sea, er, mountain stream turtle was lurking about. In fact... I was standing on its back! We went on quite a ride for this shot.
It was AWEsome!
