Take My Hand
San Francisco, CA

He stood transfixed. Staring. He had thought she was a mannequin. She was so... still. Waxy. Not living. Not breathing. No warmth. In one gesture, his world turned over. Along with his stomach.

"Take my hand" she whispered. Like dust. Like static. The sound of her voice made his ears itch.

He couldn't take his eyes off her hand, extended so gracefully. So invitingly. So lifelessly. Every hair on his body stood up and screamed... "RUN".

But he couldn't take his eyes off her hand.

The Light Inside HerSan Francisco, CA

They were almost upon her. From above. From the heavens. But not of heaven. Glittering gold, but not precious. Vile. Seeking souls. Wanting hers.

It began then, way deep inside. She always knew it would, but it couldn't be tested. It was a power of need. Of time. Of now.

Inside she felt warmth. Then heat. There was a vibration... very fast... like a hum... not audible but she felt it. She gold ones closest to her winced. Like they could hear the hum. It hurt.

Suddenly her eyes glazed. She could feel but not see. She knew what to do. It was so simple. She hadn't realized that until now. Her lips parted as she raised her hands and simply... let it go. The light inside her burst into brilliance. Illuminating. Consuming. Cleansing. Absolutely. In that moment, as the vile ones screeched... tumbled... and vanished from the skies... she was home. Safe. Complete. In the Light.

Let Me Hug You

Don't SpeakSan Francisco, CA

"Shhh. Don't speak of it." She cut me off before I even uttered a word. She must have known what I would say.
She always knew what I was going to say.

"It will heal in time. It will all heal. In time."

I did the only thing I could. I gave her a long hug. And told her I loved her.

Shocked

San Francisco, CA

She spun around and he thought she was going to slap him.
She didn't. But the look on her face... a combination of shock, cut-to-the-core and forever-over-you... rendered him unable to breathe for a moment.

"I didn't... I mean... I just..." he stammered. He tried, but the words were all jumbled in his head.
He only had that moment - and he missed it.

In the next, she was gone.

Eyes Skyward
Bettylou always dressed well, wore amazing jewelry and never failed to keep her eyes skyward in the midst of chaos. She was a 'glass half full' kind o' gal. When things appeared their very worst, she would get this little smile - and with an irresistible sparkle in her eye say; "It's only temporary." I always believed her... and she was always right.

Her Sad Green Eyes

She was a handsome woman. A tad severe to some men's eyes, but far from unattractive. Women mostly envied her slender build.
The news hit her hard.

Her sad green eyes (normally twinkling with mirth) belied the sudden realization that - while she knew she would recover, move on, eventually find happiness in small and big things again - life would really never be the same.

She Had Blue Eyes, But Was Still a Troll of a Woman
She was full of judgement and large, impressive-sounding words.
and couldn't seem stop slinging them both around, but I don't think she was trying very hard.

Now It Just Makes Her Tired
She used to love the spotlight, but now it just makes her tired.
