Because She Can

The Girls
I thought it would be interesting to shoot in Reno one evening.
It definitely won't be high on my list in the future... but it certainly was interesting.

The proprietress of this classy establishment was a loud, huffy, brassy sort, who got all up in my face because I had a camera. And I was outside. I better not be shooting her 'clients'... I'm not allowed to shoot pictures, even outside... blah, blah, blah.

Luckily for me, I have a 2 secret weapons.
My mother... who could smile and "innocent" her way through, past, or around anyone...
and my acting ability. I locked and loaded.

I told her I was taking photography classes via correspondence school and we had an assignment called "Retail At Night" and truly, I only wanted to shoot her window. I loved her display. Did she design it? It was amazing.
I told her she needn't worry; our assignment didn't permit shooting any real people, just mannequins.
Then I smiled.

She didn't know what to make of me. Just stared for a minute, then stomped back inside muttering something about having to be in Las Vegas at 5am.

Reno. Classy town.

Dr. Who's Traveling Bar

So, isn't this a nutty shot? I decided it's Dr. Who's traveling bar. Cause I think Dr. Who must need a snort every now and then to unwind after a long day on the Time Lord time clock. And he certainly wouldn't want to chance being stuck in some godforsaken dimension of No Fun At All, seeking said snortage. Hence the need for a time travelin' Time Lord Bar. It's time-tethered to the Tardis, thus always available. Here, it's just taking off, about to wink out of this particular time-space continuum. (Who says a 5DMKII isn't fast? Ha.) Tall, cool one, anyone?

To Love and Be Loved

It was partly the words. And partly that the words were NOT written on an urban wall somewhere... but on a railroad trestle in the Sierras, about an hour and half hike from any parking spot. My heart wanted this photo. Maybe yours does too?

Break Room, DG Entertainment
This is what a quick break looks like at DG Entertainment in Los Angeles. They have a bigger break room too - this is just the I-need-a-quick-cuppa-joe room. Whimsical, cheerful, lighthearted.

I wonder if they skip to the dispenser?

Stairway at The Heidelberg

The Heidelberg was like stepping back into a bygone era! It first opened in 1928 and a popular movie location during the 1930s for oldies but goldies like “Road to Utopia" with Bob Hope and Bing Crosby. It was a big movie star getaway back in those days... there are photos of Betty Grable, Clark Gable, Charlie Chaplin and others along the walls. I just thought it was such a cool spot... and always felt like some grand film star procession was about to waft down the stairs
