The Palace of Light Arts
Wandering around San Francisco one day, I got a hankering to check out the Palace of Fine Arts. It's so iconic, been shot about a billion times, half of that for wedding shots... and is truly one of the coolest landmarks in the city.

I landed here. I liked the perspective, loved how it felt ancient and elsewhere - and of course my heart leapt at the sunburst. That was the real shift for me. The sunburst. At that moment, it was no longer simply a palace of fine arts... but of light arts. Naturally I went on to write a little story in my mind about that. sigh.

It's Time for Oo
It's thirteen after two.
Which is later than I knew.
So I'll take my cue,
'N say toodle-oo.
But before I do,
Know this is true:
I took this just for you.

Her Sad Green Eyes

She was a handsome woman. A tad severe to some men's eyes, but far from unattractive. Women mostly envied her slender build.
The news hit her hard.

Her sad green eyes (normally twinkling with mirth) belied the sudden realization that - while she knew she would recover, move on, eventually find happiness in small and big things again - life would really never be the same.

Merridale Apple Press
If you ever happen through Cobble Hill, B.C.... stop in at the Merridale Estate Cidery. They make 8 varieties of ciders - all from apples grown right there. This is one of their antique apple presses. First patented on May 27, 1855. Their new ones are much bigger, shinier and much more productive.

So tasty are their wares, you might just need a designated driver.
