In A Grand Sweeping Gesture Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe CA

Sometimes a moment changes everything.
The Fateful Finger of FogIt crept in the morning, the fateful finger of fog.
Breathing upon, touching, altering all in its path.
Was it frightening or enlightening?
None could ever say.
For it wakening and stirred that which
Each dwelled upon the most.

What if...?
Just a thought.

The Tea HouseFannette Island, Lake Tahoe, CA

On Tea Party days, everyone was all a'flutter.
The birds chirped more prettily, the wind rustled just so...
Even the sun seemed to toss a little extra aim 'n glow into the mix.

The Emerald Bridge
She had been gone a timefold. The journey home took longer this time than she ever remembered. It was harder than she expected. More heartbreaking, humbling, painful, healing, exhilarating, exhausting, rewarding, life-threatening, life-affirming and more utterly incredible than she ever dreamed possible.

And now... the Emerald Bridge. The last crossing. She could glimpse the peaceful, healing waters beckoning beyond the edge of the forest. Home.
In many ways, her deepest and truest work was about to begin. Home.
She took a moment to let the impact of her arrival settle. The eternity it took to get here slide from her shoulders like a battle-worn pack of lead. The relief of returning soothe every bit of her being.
Took a deep breath.
And stepped onto the bridge.
Home.

Emerald Bay... or Lothlorian?
You decide.

Late in they day on water's edge, with a lazy breath of smoke wafting in the air... Emerald Bay in Lake Tahoe, CA really looked to me like how I imagine the Elves' homeland Lotholian from Tolkien's Lord of The Rings. I half-expected to see the elegant, curved bow of an elven boat carrying Galadriel and Celeborn to peek out from behind that jut of land before me as it headed for open water.

"Wait for me!" I'd call out. And I'd wave.
They would see me, wave back and smile... and gracefully steer the boat to the shore where I stood, the soundless gangplank extended in welcome. As I step on board the magical vessel, I'd feel a shiver of delight, of adventure and of coming home.

But alas, this only happened in my mind. (adventurous mind that it is!)
Still, this moment captured from mere weeks ago starts the movie all over again.

Fannette Island Lake Tahoe, CA

Oh, everybody and their neighbor's dog photographs Fannette Island on Lake Tahoe. But I figured, "Heck why not?". This was a day I took a day to just get out and go see things I hadn't before and step awaaaayyy from the grind. And hiking down to to Vikingsholme on Emerald Bay was something I'd threatened to do for years. Nevermind that it's closed for the season... the countryside is marvelous.

I decided to follow the premise that just because something's been shot a million times, doesn't mean you won't see it differently... and heck, the light is different every day.. not to mention they were doing controlled burns that day. And who doesn't like choking on a little brush smoke when it makes your shot go all Lord of Rings? Cue the smoke! And bring in that old guy riding bareback on the white horse while you're at it!
Heh.

If you ever have one of those days, you're welcome to join me for a moment on this view.

[she takes a moment. Contemplates blue and green tones. Breathes in. Breathes out.]

Ahhhhh. There now. Much better.
Nothing quite like a Sanity Reinstatement Moment.
