Brian Matiash... "The Key"
Brian Matiash's "The Key" is a journey of redemption, of perspective and of discovery. His show of photographs, underscored by its haunting music and spoken word narrative, truly express what Brian calls "art in the abandoned" through his Urbex photography. And shows us that "the key to it all" can be found just about anywhere, if you just have the eyes to see it.

The show is set to a gorgeous, haunting piece called "040823 " from the album "Daily Thumbprint Collection" written by drummer, composer, producer Caleb Dolister. It tells a story. Of heartache, loss, pain... breakthrough... resolution. He does it with the same achingly beautiful blend of gritty realism and heart as Brian's photography.

Open it up full screen, and tune in with headphones!

One Portland, OR

Every time I see this photo - with its top hat and tails and it's spray-painted "One" - my posture improves, I feel stage lights on my face, sense the audience breathing (you can't really see them when you have stage lights in your eyes). I wait for the music and... Pause...

Yeah. Then I snap to and realize that my audience of today includes geese, pelicans, ducks that are blissfully unaware of this impending musical downbeat... and are just fine with that! hehheh.

"One" is a number from the musical "A Chorus Line". I have no idea if this artist knew that - but trust me I do! And at one time I knew every word and step.
siiiiigh.

My dancing days were friggin' AWESOME!!
(which explains why I'm prone to breaking into song'n dance at a moment's notice. wink)

What Gives?
EscapePortland, OR
It was like another world. Dream or reality?
She voted dream and narrowed her eyes as she read the wall scrawl.
Escape. Right.
To just where, exactly? On whose terms?
And who would be waiting?
She surmised that those who'd leapt before her, never to be seen or heard from again, didn't bother to question these small details.
