Taken during one of my photography retreats in the Truckee-Tahoe region. Catfish Pond is magic - and historic.
The Chinese who built the railroad here kept catfish in this high mountain pond for their food source - and they live on today.
During the winter, they become somewhat "dormant" and stay near the bottom where it never freezes.
